DPD Local – previously known as Interlink Express – is an international parcel delivery and logistics service operator. Starting as a motorcycle courier in 1979, DPD Local now has over 100 depots throughout the UK and Ireland, making it a competitive player in the rapid-delivery market. In 2000, the French state postal service La Poste bought DPD Local, and it is now a sister company of the international company DPD. This linkage gives it access to the same investment in technology and infrastructure as its larger namesake. While many of the large postal carriers look to expand their international reach, DPD Local specialises in delivering high-quality service for small volume shippers, with a particular emphasis on the eCommerce market which continues to grow in the UK.
